A favorite among pro MotoX and Enduro riders to our very own Super Hooligan Racers, the Bell Moto-9 is one of the most widely used helmets in their line-up in off-road racing. It also looks pretty rad blasting down the road on the head of someone on a slick chopper, too. Needless to say, we’re big fans of it here at RSD.
"What the heck is MIPS?” Simply put, it stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, which is a leading slip-plane technology inside the helmet and was designed to reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts. Still confused? Don’t worry. It makes your head safer. And yea, the Bell Moto-9 Off-road motorcycle helmet has it.
It features a composite Tri-Matrix shell that’s one of the lightest in it’s class while still maintaining Snell M2015 certification. Starting at the top it has Bells patented Flying Bridge Visor with air vents. Moving to the interior it has a fully ventilated EPS lined chin bar a padded chin-strap and Bell’s patented Velocity Flow Ventilation system for maximum cooling. Back outside At the neck line, it also features an integrated vented roost guard.
But that’s not even the good stuff. The Moto-9 features MERS, Bell’s Magnefusion Emergency Release System that allows emergency first responders to remove a helmet post incident with as little interruption to the accident victim. In addition, the cheek pads have been upgrade to Magnefusion as well for easy removal and replacement.
And of course, it’s DOT / ECE certified and carries an industry-leading five-year warranty.
