In 1954 Roy Richter created his first helmet. The 500. Made from fiberglass with simple lines, one has to wonder if Roy knew his helmet would not only change the motorcycle industry safety standards, but become the defacto standard for riders and racers around the world. We’re thinking, probably not.
Fast forward to modern day, Bell revived and revamped the 500 to the highest possible quality control standards possible, updated the trims and designs and gave us the coolest and safest retro open-face motorcycle helmet available, in our opinion.
Like all Bell’s helmets, safety comes first. The 500 is constructed of a 5 layer shell with EPS liners available in different sizes ensuring the lowest possible profile look while maintaining safety. It also has an anti-bacterial interior with a leather d-ring tab pull and padded chip strap.
And in keeping with the retro vibes, it has the traditional 3-snap visor mounts so rocking a brim, bubble or flat shield is as easy as snapping one on. And it’s of course, DOT & ECE certified and RSD approved!
